Powder Coated Tough

Powder Coating Is Environmentally Friendly

(Q) What is powder coating?
(A) Powder coating looks like paint but acts like armor. It's tough, cost-effective and easy on the environment. Finely ground particles of pigment and resin are electro statically charged and sprayed onto a grounded part. The result is a uniform, durable, high quality finish. Powder coating isn't just for metal anymore. New powder coating materials can be cured at lower temperatures and make it possible to coat almost anything: ceramics, wood, etc. Powder coating is resistant to corrosion, heat, impact, abrasion, fading from sunlight and extreme weather.

(Q) Is powder coating better than regular paint?
(A) Yes, powder coating is thicker 3-4 mils and paint is typically 1-2 mils. The thickness of the powder coating makes powder coating more resistant to scratches. Powder coating is very versatile and can be used on flexible parts without cracking the coating. You can’t do that with paint!

(Q) What powder colors do you offer?
(A) There are several hundred standard colors and textures to choose from as well as metallic and transparent colors.

(Q) Can parts be coated with a clear powder coating?
(A) Of course, there are several clear powder coatings available from semi gloss to high gloss. The clear powder coating works great on polished parts, eliminating the need to keep polishing your parts. And best of all, the clear powder coatings outlast liquid clear coatings.

(Q) What is the biggest size part that can be powder coated?
(A) Our powder coat oven dimensions max out at 10'H x 11'W x 36' L.

(Q) What's the largest size part that can be blasted?

(A) Our blaster system has unlimited blast capabilities, but our blast room is 8'H x 8'W x 10'L

(Q) How does the oven temperature affect my metal parts?
(A) The oven temperature is low enough to avoid any metal fatigue or change in temper.

Q) How do I get a quote on my parts?
(A) The best way is to bring your part to us for evaluation. However, if that is not feasible you may contact us via email at: or call (618) 228-7380.
(An attached photo or measurements are always helpful)

(Q ) How much time does it take to get parts powder coated?
(A) We generally aim for a 7 day turn around time.

(Q) How do I get my parts to you?
(A) You can send them UPS, we can pick them up, or you can drop them off yourself.

(Q) Does my part need to be blasted before powder coating?
(A) Many parts that come to us do need blasting before being coated. However, if a part is new, clean, and has no corrosion of any kind, we can coat it without blasting. At COBRAA, Inc. we strive for the best finish possible. The best finish starts with the best surface preparation. Surface preparation is the most important part of powder coating. The end finish is only as good as what it's applied to.

(Q) Do I need to do anything to my parts before I bring them?
(A) As a general rule, no. However, if your parts have components that are heat sensitive, you will need to remove those components and make sure all body work is finalized.

(Q) What are your operating hours?
(A) Our doors open at 8 AM, and close at 4:30 PM, Mon – Fri, Central Standard Time
